About Us

Coast Guard Public School (CGPS), located near INS Baaz in Great Nicobar Islands, was established on July 22, 1999, to provide quality English medium education to the children of Coast Guard personnel, Defence and Civil servants, and the local community. Recognizing the limited number of schools and the absence of English medium instruction in this remote region, the school initially operated from the old District HQ-10 land near the RCC jetty.

Following the devastating Tsunami of December 2004, school infrastructure was rebuilt on ICG land. The current school building was constructed between 2014 and 2017, and new Administrative Block was inaugurated on April 17, 2017, by then COMCG (A&N), IG Kuldip Singh Sheoran, PTM, TM.

CGPS is registered under the A&N Society Registration Act 1860 with Registration No. 121/2001, dated September 11, 2001, and is currently providing education up to IXth Standard. Further, upgrading to the Xth standard in Academic Year 2026-27.

The school is administered by the School Managing Committee SMC under the Patronage of the Commander, Indian Coast Guard District Headquarters No. 10(N), Campbell Bay.
